Home Based Learning

Learning in a Safe and Familiar Environment

Our Home Based Learning service provides personalised education for children and young people who are unable to access school or other traditional learning environments.

For some young people, anxiety, trauma, additional needs or previous negative experiences of education can make attending a formal setting feel overwhelming. By delivering learning within the young person's home, we can create a safe, familiar and low-pressure environment where positive engagement with education can gradually be rebuilt.

Each programme is tailored around the individual's needs, interests, abilities and aspirations, with learning introduced at a pace that feels manageable and achievable for them.

A Personalised Approach to Education

Home Based Learning is built around the individual rather than a fixed classroom model. Our team takes time to understand how each young person learns, what motivates them and any barriers that may have previously prevented them from engaging with education.

Support with communication and engagement
Practical and academic learning opportunities

Working Towards Positive Outcomes

We work collaboratively with families, schools, commissioners and other professionals to ensure each programme supports the young person's wider educational and care objectives.

Progress is reviewed regularly and learning can be adapted as the young person's confidence, engagement and needs develop. This ensures support remains meaningful, achievable and focused on positive long-term outcomes.

Recognising Achievement

Where appropriate, learning activities can be linked to the AQA Unit Award Scheme, providing young people with opportunities to gain recognised accreditation for their achievements.

This can be particularly valuable for young people who have experienced disruption to their education, providing tangible evidence of progress and helping rebuild a positive relationship with learning.

Building a Pathway Back into Education

Home Based Learning does not have to be the final destination. For many young people, it can provide a stepping stone towards greater engagement with education and the wider community.

As confidence develops, support can gradually evolve to include learning outside the home, community-based activities or progression towards another educational setting where appropriate.

Our aim is to help each young person rediscover their ability to learn, recognise their achievements and develop the confidence and skills needed to move towards a more positive and independent future.
